Wyoming Fair receives ‘Blue Ribbon’ award

The Wyoming Fair and Wyoming Fair Board recently received some outstanding news regarding their three-day fair… The Wyoming Fair has been selected to receive the Association of Iowa Fairs’ (AIF) 2018 “Blue Ribbon Fair” Award, representing the northeast district of the AIF.

The event will take place Friday, Dec. 7 at the AIF Conference and Annual Meeting in Des Moines.

The honor was bestowed upon the Wyoming Fair by the recommendation from members of the AIF Board of Directors, based on visits to the Wyoming Fair in previous years and this year.

In order to receive this award, a fair must “provide service to the youth organizations in its community, show distinguished service in its community and surrounding area in both fair and non-fair areas, possess a strong community-based involvement with all aspects of the fair, and the fairgrounds complex must show an aggressive capital improvement program utilizing the state aid it receives each year.”

The Wyoming Fair is asked to put together a pictorial display about their fair for the AIF Conference. They also need to submit a written summary about their fair, including history about the fair.

“It is great to have such a great fair as yours honored by this special award,” praised Thomas Barnes, executive director, AIF.
