Winners announced in annual chamber drawing

Harold White takes home $1,000 in Chamber Bucks

     Eight winners were awarded Chamber Bucks and two one-night hotel stays during the Monticello Chamber’s annual “Magical Christmas of Caring & Sharing.”

     The drawing was held on Saturday, Dec. 17 at the Berndes Center.

     The grand prize winner, taking home $1,000 in Chamber Bucks, was Harold White of Monticello. His ticket came from DuTrac Community Credit Union.

     Other winners of Chamber Bucks were: (Had to be present to win.)

     • Ed Stecklein, Monticello. His ticket came from Fidelity Bank & Trust.

     • Tammy Loes, Monticello. Her ticket came from Century House Gifts and Flowers.

     • Teresa Bader, Monticello. Her ticket came from Superior Appliance.

     • Tammy Brown, Monticello. Her ticket came from Fareway.

     • Kathy McDonell, Monticello. Her ticket came from Karde’s 151.

     The winner of the overnight stay at Boulders Inn & Suites in Monticello was Lauri Bragg, Anamosa. Her ticket came from Superior Appliance.

     The winner of the overnight stay at AmericInn in Anamosa was Cindy Helgens, Monticello. Her ticket came from Gingham Dog.

     The winners of the children’s drawing were also announced:

     • Kyle Arduser won the kid’s Polaris.

     • Lauren Bruncheen won the giant girl’s stocking.

     • John Morales won the giant boy’s stocking.

     Each night that Santa Claus stopped in Monticello at the downtown pocket park (Dec. 10, 13, and 15), parents were able to sign their kids up for the drawing. The stockings were filled with toys courtesy of the Monticello Chamber Ambassadors. The Polaris was purchased through funds donated by the Monticello Jaycees before they disbanded.

     The winners of the Monticello Rotary Club drawing were Tony Kraus, $600; Nicole Reyner, $250; and Cody Dirks, $150. Those winners did not have to be present to win.

     The concept behind the chamber’s caring and sharing event is to encourage the community to come together to help others during the holidays. A silent auction and cookie walk were held, with all proceeds going toward the Monticello Ministerial Association’s Neighbor Helping Neighbor fund. Several local businesses donated items for the silent auction. Volunteers brought in festive cookies for the cookie walk. A total of $631 was raised for Neighbor Helping Neighbor through the event.

     For each item people donated toward the Monticello Food Pantry, they received a separate drawing ticket for the chance to win one of four $25 in Chamber Bucks.

     At the end of the morning, a total of six full totes were delivered to the food pantry. Monetary donations for the food pantry totaled $35.

     To add to the festivities for the day, Matt Gogel of Lisbon entertained the crowd with his singing talents.
