Vivian Rupp

     Vivian Rupp, age 91, of Monticello, went home to be with the Lord, Friday morning, Feb. 16, 2018, peacefully at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.

     Private family services will be held with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery. Pastor Doug DiBell will officiate at the services. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello has taken Vivian and her family into their care. Thoughts, memories and condolences may be left at www.goettschonline.com.

     Surviving is a daughter, Renee Covington; two sons, Rick (Mickey) Rupp all of Monticello, and Roger (Dorothy) Rupp of Center Junction; seven grandsons; one granddaughter; eight great grandchildren; four siblings, Jim (Judy) Brown, Delmar, Mary (Bob) Clark, Zwingle, Fred (Tomi) Nielsen, Clinton, Joanne Clark, Maquoketa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 63 years Merlin in 2008, a son Ronald Rupp in 2004, her son-in-law Greg Covington in 2000, and two brothers, Lavern and Clayton Brown. 

     Vivian Teresa Brown was born on Aug. 8, 1926 at Freeport, Ill. She was the daughter of John and Charlotte Wild, Brown. Vivian graduated from the Epworth Schools where she worked as a telephone operator. 

     Vivian Brown and Merlin Rupp were married Aug. 22, 1945. The couple farmed for many years, until Merlin began hauling milk for Wapsi Valley Creamery. Vivian also worked for Collins Radio and drove a school bus for the Monticello Community Schools. They built the Rupp Apartments in 1979 and moved to town in 1991.
