Two-vehicle accident sends driver to JRMC

     A two-vehicle accident took place on Aug. 22 at 7:47 a.m. at the intersection of S. Main Street, Welter Drive and 190^th Street in Monticello.

     Ayla Goldmoon Nieto, 30, of Monticello, was driving a 2011 Chevy Traverse as she was turning left onto S. Main Street. Nieto saw an oncoming vehicle, a 1998 Chevy C25 driven by Jim Allen Chapman of Monticello, and anticipated that the vehicle was turning right. Nieto turned in front of Chapman, 49, and was struck in the driver’s side door.

     The Monticello Fire Department was called to the scene of the accident to help extricate Nieto from her vehicle. She suffered minor injuries, and was transported by Monticello Ambulance to Jones Regional Medical Center.

     Chapman refused medical treatment.

     Nieto’s vehicle sustained approximately $8,000 in damages, while Chapman’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,000.
