Thanks to Good Samaritan who lent a hand
On March 15, I was transporting a church family friend to the hospital for routine surgery when on Business Highway 151 traveling southbound near (County Road) E-16, my car suddenly shuttered some horrific metal to concrete grinding noises. Fortunately I wasn’t traveling too fast and was able to pull over safely just short of Welter’s driveway when my friend and I watched in bewilderment as my left rear tire freed itself, rolling about 45 degrees from my vehicle, across traffic, into a snow field and down a creek embankment.
A kind man stopped (I believe his name was Phil Lambert.); he asked if we both were ok and I said yes and explained to him I had to go retrieve my tire as it was in that yonder creek, just as soon as I secured a ride for my friend.
Local Jones County Sheriff Deputy Dale Barnes then pulled over to assist and called Koob Towing to quickly remove my vehicle from the shoulder.
Meanwhile, this kind gentleman who initially stopped drove down to the creek to retrieve my tire. I just wanted to publicly thank him for both his concern and retrieval support! A Good Samaritan in my book!
Our family moved to rural Coggon near Monticello in 2006, and we have grown to love the Monticello area, its people and small town “feel.” We attend church in town, shop, and I’ve worked around town. People are caring here and never hesitate to stop and assist a stranger.
So, Mr. Lambert, thank you from the bottom of my heart! God bless you and your family!
Most appreciatively,
