Steiner jumps to
All-America status
Noah Steiner of Monticello earned All-America status and set a school record in the high jump during the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships March 8 in Boston, Mass.
Steiner, a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, jumped 2.09 meters (6-foot-10 ¾) to finish third in the meet, setting a Platteville indoor meet record and tying his own personal record, achieved in outdoor competition last year.
“I felt pretty good. I had a lot of rest the night before,” Steiner said.
It was his third national meet, and the second time at the indoor nationals.
“Having that previous experience really helped,” he said. “It was the most relaxed I’ve been at any national meet. Last year I was really nervous, and if I have bad nerves, it messes with my approach.”
Steiner, 21, is majoring in industry technologies and management at Platteville.
