Sheriff's Report

     A car versus deer accident took place on Jan. 9 at 6:37 a.m. on Highway 151. Amy Leigh Bunn, 45, of Monticello was driving a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Bunn’s vehicle sustained approximately $5,000 in damages.

     A car versus deer accident took place on Jan. 11 at 6:53 a.m. at County Road E-34 and Fairview Road. Dakota Gene Richards, 24, of Anamosa was driving a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta SE when he encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Richards’ vehicle sustained approximately $3,500 in damages.

     A one-vehicle accident took place on Jan. 11 at 5:28 p.m. on Highway 136. Melanie Sue Laughridge, 42, of Anamosa, was driving a 2000 Chevy Blazer on a roadway that was 100 percent ice covered when she began sliding and entered the west ditch. Her vehicle rolled onto its side. Passengers inside the vehicle were not injured. Laughridge was taken by Oxford Junction Ambulance to Jones Regional Medical Center for minor injuries. Her vehicle sustained approximately $7,000 in damages.
