Ruth Eleanor Mills Jan. 16, 1935-Feb. 20, 2018

     Ruth Eleanor Mills, age 83, of Waverly, Minn., passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018 at The Lodge in Howard Lake, Minn.

     Ruth was born in Scotch Grove, Iowa on Jan. 16, 1935 the daughter of Paul H. and Katherine (Himebaugh) Paulsen.

     She graduated from High School in 1953 in Monticello, Iowa

     On April 7, 1957, Ruth E. Paulsen and Glenn M. Mills were joined in holy marriage at Scotch Grove, Iowa. God blessed their marriage with six children.

     They made their home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa before moving to Waverly, Minn. Ruth and Glenn owned and operated The Lakeshore Motel on Waverly Lake for 47 years.

     In the more recent years, Ruth and Glenn enjoyed their winters in Texas. Glenn preceded his wife in death on Sept. 29, 2008.

     Through the years, Ruth was involved with P.T.L., Cub Scouts, gardening, flowers, crafting and fishing. She enjoyed visiting with lots of people! Ruth loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also very fond of Christmas Time.

     Survived by her children: Randy (Becky) Mills of Waverly, Ron Mills of Winsted, Janet (David) Whelan of Pasadena, Texas, Judy Engel of Norfolk, Va., and Jenny (Jason) Helmbrecht of Howard Lake; 12 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren; a sister, Kathleen Decker of Monticello; a brother-in-law: Dennis (Donna) Mills of Tama, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Paulsen of Monticello; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

     In addition to her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by a daughter Debra Sue Mills; parents Paul H. and Katherine Paulsen; father-in-law and mother-in-law Robert and Christena Mills; siblings Paul E. Paulsen and Ralph (Joyce) Paulsen and by a brother-in-law Clifford Decker.

     A memorial service for Ruth Mills will be held on Friday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. at Saint James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake, Minn. The Reverend Mark Loder will officiate. Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at the Church on Friday, Feb. 23.
