Royalty named, awards presented at Dairy Banquet

     A meal, the naming of royalty, awards and a hypnosis show were all part of the Jones County Dairy Banquet Saturday, Feb. 10 at the Berndes Center in Monticello.

     Jones County royalty for 2018 were recognized, including Jones County Dairy Princess Grace Gadient, who will serve for the second year; Little Miss Squirt Sydney Sparks, and Little Sir Dairyman Aiden Ulferts.

     Dairy producers were honored for having herds with production above state averages. The breed winners included Jim and Judy Heims, Ayrshire; Doug and Jodi Fairbanks, Brown Swiss, Holstein and Jersey; Coonridge Holsteins; Stoll Farms, Inc., Holstein; and Kevin Steiner, Holstein.

     The Golden Butter Knife Award went to Mike and Rhonda Bachman of The Cone Shoppe, and the Friend of the Dairyman Award was presented to Jerry and Lisa Hunt of Savor the Barn.

     Dinner was provided by Marilyn’s Catering and the Jones County Pork Producers. Deacon Ed Goldsmith provided an invocation, Robert Stoll gave the welcome and introductions, and Jones County Dairy Promotion Committee president Marcus Ulferts presented awards.

     Entertainment was provided by Kenda Summers and AnnaRose Anderson of the Two Blondes Mentalism & Hypnosis Show.
