Robert (Bob) G. Cox Death – Jan. 6, 2019

      Robert (Bob) G. Cox, 72, of Gladbrook, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019 at his home.

      A celebration of life was held Sunday, Jan. 13 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Calvin Rockett Bar and Grill, Marshalltown. Attire was casual. Hawkeye, Cubs or team colors were encouraged.

      “We cannot make more memories, since he’s no longer here. So when you speak of him to us, it’s music to our ears.” The family is requesting that you send your favorite memories of Bob to an email established for this purpose at rememberbobcox@gmail.com.

      Bob had a wonderful childhood growing up in Wyoming, Iowa, the son of Herbert and Mildred (Hyde) Cox. He graduated from Wyoming High School and went on to graduate with a degree in social services from Coe College in Cedar Rapids.

      He had a gift of connecting to people and developed many meaningful relationships. With a heart of servitude, as a social worker he helped so many people find their way in life. Bob had an easy way of conversation that never lacked sincerity and laughter. He was passionate about his relationships and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

      Bob was an avid sports fan, emotionally fierce about his Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs. An amazing golfer, he competed in amateur tournaments throughout Iowa. He enjoyed and became skilled in many hobbies including: woodworking, RC airplanes and making golf clubs (during the winter).

      Bob is survived by his children: Brad (Amy) Cox of Garwin and Rebecca (Ken) Zandarski of Minneapolis, Minn.; five grandchildren: Alex, Austin, and Adam Cox, and Trey and McKenna Zandarski. In addition, he is survived by his siblings: Richard (Norma) Cox of Charles City; David (Donna) Cox of Northfield, Ill.; Dean (Karen) Cox of Monticello; Joan (Chuck) Grabner of Urbandale; sister-in-law, Jane Cox of Mount Vernon; and many nieces and nephews.

      Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Mildred Cox; son, Timothy Cox; brother, Donald Cox; nieces, Cathy Jo Bohlken and Megan Klaus.
