Panthers reap postseason honors

     Five members of the Monticello High School baseball team were named to the Class 2A, Northeast All-District baseball team for the 2018 season, as voted upon by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association.

     Nine Panthers were selected for the All-River Valley Conference team, as voted upon by conference coaches.

     A list of the honored Monticello players follows.

CLASS 2A ALL-DISTRICT

NORTHEAST DISTRICT

     First team: Jacob Manternach, senior catcher; Ryan Manternach, senior pitcher; Andrew Mescher, senior utility; Kyle Sperfslage, senior second baseman.

     Second team: Avery Martensen, junior utility.

RIVER VALLEY

ALL-CONFERENCE

     Elite: Jacob Manternach, senior catcher; Ryan Manternach, senior pitcher; Andrew Mescher, senior infielder; Kyle Sperfslage, senior utility.

     North Division: Gavin Cooper, junior outfielder; Avery Martensen, junior infielder; Jon Mootz, junior utility; Alex Nealson, senior outfielder.

     Honorable mention: Kegan Arduser, senior.
