Monticello scored on a fourth-and-goal from the Cascade 4-yard line with 2:28 to play – a run to the right side by Bo Kramer – and held on for a 22-19 junior varsity football win Friday, Sept. 22 at Cascade.

The Panthers (3-1-1) trailed 19-16 after three quarters, but drove to the Cascade 4-yard line. On fourth down, Monticello went without a huddle and got the ball to Kramer for the winning score.

A key sack by Mason Reuter on Cascade’s final series helped seal the win. Tyler Luensman also had a sack during the game. Spencer Avery led the Panthers in tackles with five, and Ben Oswald had four.

Tyler Luensman had two touchdowns, one on a 95-yard kickoff return, and the other on a 31-yard pass from Jeff Carlson.

Kramer finished with 24 carries for 104 yards.

“The offensive line did a great job controlling the line of scrimmage,” said Donnie Kremer, who co-coaches the team with Greg Williams. “They have been doing a great job all year and are only getting better.”

The Panthers will play host to Waukon Friday, Sept. 29 for homecoming.
