Pair of meets occupy Eagles

GOLF

The Midland boys and girls golf teams traveled to Meadowview in Central City for a dual meet March 27. The Eagle boys lost a heartbreaker to Central City, 198 to 200. Connor Harms led Midland with a 49, two shots behind medalist T.J. Ayers of CC. Carson Rupp and Carter Mohr each shot 50, and Ethan Orr shot 51.

The Eagles didn’t have a complete team on the girls’ side. Sydney Stender carded a 56, Anna Roseland had 58, and Nicole Guenther scored a 70. Central City had 240 as a team, led by medalist Maddy Fleming, with a 51.

On March 28, the Eagles played host to North Linn and Anamosa. Midland’s boys shot 199 to finish second, behind Anamosa’s 179 but ahead of North Linn’s 207. Harms again led the Eagles, with a 48. Mohr shot 49, Carson Rupp had 50 and Peyton Rupp totaled 52. Cole Sander of Anamosa was meet medalist with a 40.

Anamosa defeated North Linn 202 to 270 in the girls’ meet. Midland again had three golfers – not enough for a team score. Stender scored 61, Guenther had 72 and Roseland had 75. Kara Hunt of Anamosa was medalist with a 45.
