ORBIS saves energy

Alliant Energy Account Manager Gregg Smith presents Orbis Technical Manager Greg Kemp (left) with a rebate check for over $41,000. The savings was generated by a high efficiency variable speed drive evaporative cooling tower, installed last year at the Orbis facility in Monticello. It helps cool the plastic injection molding presses at plant and provides chilled water to the presses when the temperature is below 50 degrees. This process allows Orbis to turn off their normal chiller compressors for more than 4,000 a year. That’s enough electrical savings to power 58 homes a year. (Photo submitted)
