NFV hands JV its first defeat

FOOTBALL

Monticello had a fair number of positive things happen during a junior varsity football game against North Fayette Valley Friday, Sept. 15 at Dean Nelson Field.

Unfortunately for the Panthers, the final score wasn’t one of them, as NFV scored a 20-8 win to give Monticello its first loss of the season.

Monticello’s touchdown came on a 25-yard run by Colin Jordan, and a two-point conversion run by Bo Kramer.

It was a strong defensive effort for the Panthers (2-1-1). Mason Reuter had two fumble recoveries. Ben Oswald made 12 tackles, and Spencer Avery made 10, including two sacks. Cole Wilson had six tackles.

Offensively, Kramer finished with 15 carries for 65 yards, and Jordan had 12 rushes for 51 yards.

The Panthers will play at Cascade Friday, Sept. 22.
