Monticello is second in WEIGA

WOMEN'S GOLF

     Monticello shot 604 and took second place out of eight teams at the Women’s Eastern Iowa Golf Association (WEIGA) Tournament Sunday, Aug. 6 at Wahkonsa Country Club in Durant.

     Fawn Creek of Anamosa won the team championship with a score of 580, led by tournament medalist Kathy Davies, who shot a 76.

     Lauren Ries led Monticello with an 81, tying for third place with Megan Sailer of Fawn Creek. Both were one stroke behind runner-up Lynette Seaton of Fawn Creek. Aspen Lynch of Monticello tied for fifth with Nancy Updegraff of Fawn Creek, each with an 82.

     Other Monticello scores included Darby Kramer with an 84, Tammy Sutterman with 88, Allison Ries with 91, Linda Kleinow with 93, Theresa Westhoff with 94, Julie Frost with 96, and Brenda Bohlken with 97. Linda Sauser served as alternate.

     The Wapsipinicon team finished third in the tournament with a total of 625. Tipton and Wahkonsa tied for fourth with 626, Solon totaled 629, West Liberty had 671, and Kernoustie shot 684.
