Monticello man faces robbery changes

     A suspect has finally been charged with the June 1 robbery of Security State Bank in Springville.

     According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office Joseph Kripner, 46, of Monticello, entered the bank on June 1, displaying a handgun through the teller window. Kripner demanded cash. He was given an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing on foot.

     Kripner was later found and arrested in Colorado. On June 19, he appeared in federal court in Colorado. Once he’s transported to Iowa, he will appear in federal court in Cedar Rapids.

     If convicted, Kripner could face up to 20 years in prison, with three years of supervised release, as well as a fine of up to $250,000.
