Monticello Lions Club members recognized

     Five Monticello Lions Club members were recently recognized for their service.

     Doug Adams, Penny Schmit, and Wade Reddy each received the Warren Coleman Honorary Award. This award is the highest honor conferred by the Iowa Lions Foundation. In receiving it, three members will join the ranks of some of the most prominent Lions in the State of Iowa.

     The award is named for longtime executive secretary/treasurer Warren Coleman who was dedicated to the Iowa Lions Foundation, and the programs of which it supports. This award is conferred on persons who demonstrate community service, and can only be made possible by contributions to the Iowa Lions Foundation.

     Lions clubs worldwide recognize outstanding individuals by bestowing on them an award that is named for its founder, Melvin Jones.

     Monticello Lions members Fred Williams and Jim Manternach were each presented with the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award.

     This award is the highest form of recognition and embodies humanitarian ideas consistent with the nature and purpose of Lionism. The recipient of this award becomes a model of exemplary service to his club and the community, which it serves.

     These awards are made possible by contributions to the Lions Club International Foundation.
