Monticello students in grades seventh through 12th will showcase their musical talents during the choir concert in the Monticello High School gym on Tuesday, Feb. 28, starting at 7 p.m.

Middle school and high school choir members will be singing a variety of songs including those in a foreign language, novelty, and 20th century modern music. Their performances will also include percussion and other unusual sounds. You will also see the seventh through 12th grade choir members singing as one, as well as all of the girls and boys performing together.

“This is an opportunity for developing middle school choir,” shared Donna Wall, Monticello Middle School vocal music director, “to perform with those more experienced. It also demonstrates the development from middle school through high school to those listening.”

Wall said bringing all of the choir members together also hopefully enables the high schoolers “to be positive role models.”

Kate Isaac, a MHS junior, has been a choir class officer for the past two years. She urges incoming freshmen to consider joining choir if they love music. As choir officers, Isaac said, “You get to help choose the music and the theme for the Dessert Concerts when you’re an upper classman.”

The concert is expected to last 45 minutes to an hour. Admission is $5. Refreshments will be provided following the show.
