Minnie Stogdill Feb. 16, 1930-Aug. 22, 2017

     Minnie Stogdill, age 87, died Tuesday Aug. 22, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital Cedar Rapids, Iowa following a brief illness.

     Funeral services will be held at 11 Friday morning, Aug. 25, 2017 at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello where friends may call after 10. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice or Air Care.

     Surviving is her son Bob (Julie) Stogdill, Monticello; two grandchildren, Ryan (Morgan) Stogdill, Keri (Ben) Dahl; four great-grandchildren, Landon and Hannah Stogdill, Preslee and Beckett Dahl; her sister, Betty Siebels, and a sister-in-law Ruth Otten. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Larry in 2008, two great-granddaughters, Madelyn and Sophia, and three siblings, Bob Otten Sally Hawker and Doris Freeze.

     Minnie M. Otten was born Feb. 16, 1930 at Monticello, Iowa. She was the daughter of Otto and Helen Bench, Otten. Minnie graduated from the Monticello Community Schools with the class of 1949. On Feb. 4, 1956 she married Mike Stogdill. The couple later divorced. Minnie worked for the City of Monticello as a meter maid and as a radio dispatcher. In 1980 she started working at St. Luke’s Hospital as a security officer. She retired from St. Luke’s in 1995. 

     Minnie was a member of the Royal Neighbors. She especially loved collecting mice memorabilia, post cards and pencils including the Eversharps and Bullet pencils. Reading, crossword puzzles and classical music were also favorite pastimes. She loved Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball.

     The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Luke’s ICU and Hospice for all the wonderful care during the past few weeks.
