      Mark Douglas Mead, 69, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Stanwood, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer.

      Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 19, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Clarence at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Matt Schneider-Adams officiating. Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 18, at Chapman’s in Clarence. Burial will be in Center Junction Madison Cemetery after lunch at the church in Clarence.

      Mark was born Jan. 1, 1949, to Dillon and Nelda Schoon Mead in Monticello. He married Geraldine “Gerri” Calloway on June 2, 1970 in Anamosa.

      He is survived by his wife, Gerri; sons, Chad (Braden) of Cedar Rapids and Nicholas “Nick” (Nicole) of Robins; grandsons, Dillon and Jameson; mother, Nelda Mead of Center Junction; brother, Michael Mead of Center Juntion; father-in-law, George “Mike” Calloway of Anamosa; brother-in-law, Michael Calloway of Marion; and nieces and nephews.

      He was preceded in death by his father; mother-in-law, Vivian Calloway; and sister-in-law, Lynnette Calloway.

      Mark had served in the Army and was a Teamster truck driver for 32 years. He loved watching the Hawkeyes and camping. He also was a pyrotechnician.

      Memorials may be directed to the Cancer Research fund or St. John’s United Church of Christ in Clarence.
