      Luella M. DeShaw age 95, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018 at her home following a sudden illness.

      Mass of Christian Burial will held 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, Dec. 12, 2018 at the St. Luke's Catholic Church, Hopkinton with interment in the Buck Creek Cemetery. Fr. Paul Baldwin will officiate at the services.   Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Church. Goettsch Funeral Home has taken Luella and her family into their care.

      Surviving are two children, LaVonne (Bill) Sternhagen, Hopkinton, Lloyd (Diane Koon) DeShaw, Lexington, S.C., seven grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 12 step-great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren and four step-great-great-grandchildren, two brothers, LeRoy (Teresa) Wieser and Leo Wieser and a sister-in-law, Lori Wieser.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lyle, two sisters, Elmeda and Virginia and two brothers, Donald and Clarence.

      Luella Marie Wieser was born July 6, 1923 near Jesup, Iowa.   She was the daughter of Joseph and Clara Kofmehl, Wieser.  Luella graduated from the Jesup High School in 1939.   Luella Wieser and Lyle H. DeShaw were married Oct. 20, 1941 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Sand Springs.  During the war years she helped Lyle drive for Reed Hybrid Seed Corn in Anamosa.  She later worked for Jacques Home Decorating, in Monticello, Montgomery Wards in Cedar Rapids, the Monticello Express, Mississippi Valley Milk Producers and Swiss Valley Farms in Hopkinton.   She also did house cleaning and wallpapering in the area for many years.  In retirement Luella and Lyle did whitewashing on area dairy farms.  She had been a member of St. John Catholic Church, Delhi and was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church, Hopkinton.
