Lockdown issued for Monticello schools

     Mid-morning on Friday, Feb. 24, all of the schools in Monticello went on lockdown for roughly 15 minutes, 10:35 to 10:50 a.m. The lockdown was issued for the four Monticello Community Schools, as well as Sacred Heart Catholic School.

     According to a statement from the Monticello Police Department, they “responded to an incident involving a family member of three students of the Monticello Community School District.

     “Due to the nature of the incident, the three students were removed from their respective school buildings and all district buildings were placed on lockdown.

     “The subject was quickly located by officers and taken into custody.

     “All district buildings were taken out of lockdown and resumed normal operation.”

     According to a statement from Brian Jaeger, superintendent of the MCSD, “At no time were any students in danger as the lockdown was done as a precautionary measure.”
