Kathleen Marie Postel October 17, 1931 – July 25, 2018

      Kathleen Postel age 86, died Wednesday July 25, 2018 at the Anamosa Care Center. Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, August 3, 2018 at 10:30 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with interment in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 7 Thursday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello where a parish Vigil Service will be held at 4:00. Visitation will resume after 9:30 Friday morning at the Church. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.

      Surviving are eight children, Roy (Susana) Postel, Joe (Catherine) Postel, both of Chicago, IL., Marty (Holly) Postel, Cedar Falls, Michelle (Dennis) Dirks, Coggon, Angie (Frank) Bertling, Wasilla, AK., David (Kelly) Postel, Lisa (Lynn) Mootz, both of Monticello, Steve (Wendy) Postel, Polk City, 14 grandchildren, one great-grandson, and her brother, Jack Evers, Rowley. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold, an infant son, Daniel Mark, December 1, 1970, a brother and a sister.

      Kathleen Marie Evers was born October 17, 1931 in Castle Grove Township, Jones County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Michael and Myrtle (Leonard) Evers. Kathleen attended school at Pleasant Hill, Temple Hill, and Sacred Heart Catholic School in Monticello. She graduated from Winthrop High School in 1949. She worked at the Grocery Store in Winthrop and at Donovan’s Cash Market in Dubuque. Kathleen married Harold Postel on May 8, 1957 in Winthrop. Kathleen was employed at the Winthrop State Bank until 1960 when they moved to Monticello. Harold preceded her in death in September of 1978. Kathleen worked at the Hot Lunch Program at Sacred Heart School and in the church office. She also worked at Camp Courageous, Ferrall Drug Store and McNeill Hardware before retiring.
