Holiday Open House set at Central Park

Need to get out of the house? Looking for a free holiday vacation activity with the kids? Mark your calendar and bring the whole family to the “Central Park Nature Center Holiday Open House” on Tuesday or Wednesday, Dec. 27 or 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Spend some time exploring the Central Park Nature Center’s latest exhibit additions. Work a puzzle, test your habitat I.Q., and dare to put your hand into the “Mystery Box.” Then get creative and enter our coloring contest and prize drawing.

Enjoy the out-of-doors from inside our warm center as you hone your bird identification skills by observing birds at the Nature Center feeders. Then make a pine cone bird feeder to take home for your birds.

Bring your snow pants, hat, gloves, coat, and boots to try your skills at snowshoeing. After a quick lesson on snowshoeing, head out with your family to explore the winter wilderness of Central Park.

Cookies, bars, hot chocolate, coffee, and apple cider provided by the Friends of Jones County Conservation and Nature Center and park staff. Please contact Michele at 319-481-7987 for more information, directions, or to reserve snowshoes for a specific time slot.
