Herman T. Lahr

     Herman T. Lahr, 79, of Worthington passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade after a brief illness.

     Visitation will be held 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave. SW in Dyersville where the Worthington Fire Department will gather at 6 p.m. and a parish vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral services.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Worthington with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Dennis Conway will officiate.

     Herman was born Nov. 15, 1937, in Monticello, the son of Raymond and Delores (Westhoff) Lahr. He married Beverly Tuel on June 18, 1960, in Worthington. Together they farmed just south of Worthington. He enjoyed fishing, sharing the joy of his model trains and visiting with family and friends.        

     Survivors include his five children: Gary (Diane) of Worthington, Richard “Dick” (Karen) of Onslow, Barbara (Phil) Cheek of Palm Harbor, Fla., Deborah (Sam) Lahr-Gnagey of Columbia City, Ind., and Diane (Tob) Patzner of Durango; Grandchildren: Eric (Emily) Lahr, Morgan Lahr, Amy (Ray) Clark, Shelley (Kevin) Sheridan, Sarah (Jason) Downing, Jessica Cheek, Adam (Niki) Lahr, Alyssa (Ty) Wheeler, Tashina (Herb) Lahr-Manifold, Megan and Cory Benz, Amber and Ashley Steffen and Corbin Collins-Patzner; great grandchildren: Connor Sheridan, Dashiel Lahr, Khloe Downing, Olive Lahr and Aubrey and Nolan Lahr; siblings: Robert (Rosemary) Lahr of Manchester, Harold (Lois) Lahr of Earlville, Patricia (Robert) Wolfe of Dubuque and Wayne Lahr of Worthington; in-laws: Juanita (Tom) Hearst of Tipton, Gene (Leellyn) Tuel of Lawrence, Kan., Clarence (Diane) Tuel of Worthington and Dennis (Karen) Tuel of Mt. Pleasant.

     He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly in 2010, his parents, his step-father, Leo Manternach, a son, Brad Lahr, parents in-law Arvil and Eunice (Boxwell) Tuel; brother-in-law James Tuel, and a nephew, Brett Hearst.

     Memorials are preferred to Hospice of Dubuque.
