Geraldine “Gerry” Huber

     Geraldine “Gerry” Huber, 84, of Hopkinton, died Friday, April 27, 2018. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2018 at St. Luke Catholic Church with Fr. Paul Baldwin and Deacon Ed Goldsmith presiding. Burial will be in Hopkinton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2018, at St. Luke Catholic Church.

     Gerry was born to Alfred and Rachael (Anglin) Lahey in Delaware County, Iowa, as the youngest of four daughters. She was educated in Buck Creek School System.

     Gerry was united in marriage to Patrick (Pat) J. Huber on Jan. 16, 1951 at Castle Grove Catholic Church. To this union seven children were born: Debbie (Terry) Hardin of Hopkinton, Peg Bradke of Cedar Rapids, Jill (Steve) Sodawasser of Alburnett, Dan (Carla) Huber of Coggon, Mark (Sarah) Huber of Chicago, Ill., Jan Brewer of Cedar Rapids, and Jody (Rob) Meyer of Cedar Rapids. Gerry’s 14 grandchildren include: Molly (Hardin) Franzenburg, Jerry Hardin, Nora (Hardin) Billmeyer, Hannah Hardin, Megan (Bradke) Mildenburger, Jana (Sodawasser) Schoff, Kayla (Sodawasser) Burkle, Eleanor and Grace Huber, Kyle and Julia Brewer, Avery, Paxton and Breckin Meyer. Gerry had 11 great-grandchildren.

     Gerry was a devoted mother and she and Pat owned a milk hauling service for many years. Gerry worked at the Hopkinton Sundries Store and Citizens State Bank in Hopkinton. She was active in St. Luke Parish, enjoyed playing cards, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

     Gerry is survived by six of her children, 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, sister Virginia Supple and sisters-in-law Clara Bonin and Dee Huber.

     Gerry was preceded in death by her husband Patrick, daughter Debbie, parents Alfred and Rachael Lahey, siblings and spouses: Mary Jane and Harold Crowley, Ray Ann and Ray Wickman and Justin Supple. In-laws: George and Molly Huber, Laurie (Jack) Mangold, Jay (Loraine) Huber, Tom Huber, Art Bonin, Katie (Bill) Mullen, Helen (Don) Zimmerman, David Huber and Donald “Duck” Huber.

     Memorials may be directed to: St. Luke Catholic Church Hopkinton, UnityPoint Hospice, Hopkinton Volunteer Fire Department, Hopkinton Municipal Swimming Pool.
