In honor of Veterans Day (Nov. 11), Sacred Heart Catholic School recognized veterans at the Children’s Liturgy on Thursday, Nov. 8. Students in grades K-6 submitted the names of family and friends who served in the United States military. Several of those veterans were in attendance, and were given a blessing.

Then on Friday, Nov. 9, Sacred Heart students took part in an assembly, with former Sacred Heart student Charlie Cigrand speaking. Cigrand served in the United States Army, 10th Mountain Division in Afghanistan for 16 months.

Cigrand showed the students and staff photos of his time in Afghanistan. He also spoke about his military operations and the goodwill projects his division did with the people in Afghanistan, like building a school for girls and distributing clothing.
