Eagles sweep three opponents

Wrestling

     Midland traveled to North Linn and wrestled three opponents, winning 48-12 over Central Elkader, 54-6 over Clayton Ridge, and 39-26 over West Branch.

     The Eagles collected a total of 12 pins over the three duals, including two each by Damon Huston, Cayden Miller, David Flores, Carson Hunter and Brett Schoenherr. Griffin Gravel and Jeremy Lafrenz each had one pin.

 

Girls basketball

     Midland won one of three recent Tri-Rivers Conference games as its record was evened at 3-3.

     The Eagles started the week with a 51-42 home win over Starmont. Mikayla Dosland had 18 points, Drew Jensen scored 15 and had five assists and four steals, and Delanie Uppena had 10 points and seven rebounds. Allison Paulsen had six rebounds, and Arianna Hacke made four assists.

     At Springville Dec. 7, Midland lost 43-25 despite 16 points from Jensen. Uppena pulled down 10 rebounds, and Paulsen grabbed eighth. Ella Rupp and Jensen had three steals apiece.

     Midland then played host to Central City Dec. 8, and lost 55-35. The visiting Wildcats led 26-12 at halftime. Uppena had 10 points and nine rebounds. Rupp had six rebounds and three assists.

 

Boys basketball

     The Eagles played host to Edgewood-Colesburg Nov. 27, and lost 56-32. Ed-Co outscored Midland 25-9 in the second half to pull away.

     Hunter Brown came off the Midland bench to lead the team with 19 points and nine rebounds. Britan Martens had six rebounds, while Ethan Kaftan and Jensen Dodge had five apiece. Carsen Rupp had four steals and three assists.

     At East Buchanan Nov. 30, the Eagles lost a heartbreaking 57-56 decision to the Buccaneers despite 23 points from Brown, who made five three-point shots. Kaftan had 10 points and eight rebounds. Iziek Soper had eight points and 14 rebounds. Carsen Rupp had four assists, Martens had four steals, and Peyton Rupp had two blocks.

     Midland used a balanced scoring attack to overcome Starmont 55-50 Dec. 4 in Wyoming. Brown had 13 points, while Carsen Rupp and Kaftan had 11 each and Wilson Buckwalter contributed eight. Kaftan had eight rebounds, and Martens had seven. Buckwalter and Brown each had four assists and four steals.
