Disc Golf Course

Last week, a new sign was erected at The Baty Disc Golf Course in Monticello, acknowledging the major donors of the park: John and Jane Baty, Bill and Cammie Greif, and Lloyd and Joyce Welter. The Greifs and Welters donated the land for the disc golf course; the Batys donated $110,000 through the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque. The $10,000 was donated up front, and the city uses the interest off the $100,000 for maintenance and upkeep of the park. The sign was fabricated and installed by Weber Stone Co. in Stone City at a cost of $3,429. The sign was paid for by interest earned from the Batys’ donation. The city’s Public Works Department set the footings and poured the concrete for the new sign. (Photos submitted)
