County supervisors make appointments in new year

     On Jan. 2, the Jones County Board of Supervisors met for the first time in the new year.

     As is customary at the start of every year, the board made several appointments and approvals during their meeting.

     Supervisor Ned Rohwedder was appointed board chair, with Supervisor Wayne Manternach appointed vice chair.

     The supervisors were also appointed to the following boards and committees:

     Supervisor Manternach suggested that each of the supervisors be named as alternates to every board in case the main designee and alternate are unable to attend the meeting. Rohwedder said they all need to be listed as such in order to be a voting member of the committee.

In other county business:

     The board appointed the Monticello Express and Anamosa Journal-Eureka as the official Jones County newspapers for legal publications for 2019.

     • The board appointed Dr. Michael Weston as Medical Examiner, as well as Kevin Weber and Victoria Weston as Medical Examiner Investigators.

     • The board appointed Betty Weimer, Anamosa City Council, and Derek Lumsden, Economic Development director, to the ECICOG Board of Directors for three-year terms.

     Doug Wortman, who serves on the Economic Development board, was appointed to the ECICOG Revolving Loan Fund Committee for a one-year term.

     • The board appointed Wes Gibbs as the Weed Commissioner for 2019.
