OFF THE MARK COLUMN

It is that time of the year where Pete and I go head-to-head with our bowl picks, and a dollar bet on the line. Since there are so many now I will scoot thru my picks with little or no commentary. You’re welcome!

Air Force Bowl: NC Central, whom I have never heard of. New Mexico Bowl: What the heck, New Mexico. It’s right in their back yard. Las Vegas Bowl: Houston. Camellia Bowl: Toledo. AutoNation Cure Bowl: UCF. New Orleans Bowl: Southern Miss.

Miami Beach Bowl: Central Michigan. Boca Raton Bowl: Memphis. Poinsettia Bowl: Wyoming. Famous Idaho Potato Bowl: Idaho, why not? Bahamas Bowl (there is now a bowl in the Bahamas?): Eastern Michigan. Armed Forces Bowl: Navy, of course.

Unbelievably, the Dollar General Bowl: Troy somebody. Hawaii Bowl: Middle Tennessee over Hawaii. St Petersburg Bowl: Miami (Ohio). Quick Lane Bowl, as opposed to the slow lane? Boston College over Maryland.

Independence Bowl will go to Vanderbilt. Heart of Dallas Bowl: North Texas. Military Bowl will go to Wake Forest over #22 Temple. The Holiday Bowl will go to Washington State as Pete selects Minnesota, I am guessing.

It’s Boise State over Baylor in the Cactus Bowl. Baylor is a train wreck right now! Pinstripe Bowl: Pitt over Northwestern. Russell Athletic Bowl: West Virginia over the U. Foster Farms Bowl, not Foster Lager Bowl: Utah over the Hoosiers.

The Texas Bowl goes to Kansas State. The Birmingham Bowl goes to South Carolina. VT takes the Belk Bowl and Colorado wins over former conference foe, Oklahoma State. I’m picking Georgia in the Liberty Bowl and Stanford in the Sun Bowl. Tennessee thumps Nebraska in the Music City Bowl and Air Force wins the Arizona Bowl.

Michigan will pound Florida State in the Orange Bowl and Louisville, behind their Heisman Trophy QB, will win the Citrus Bowl. I’m going with Kentucky over Georgia Tech in the TaxSlayer Bowl and Florida over Iowa in the Outback Bowl. Bowls haven’t been too kind to the Hawks lately.

Wisconsin wins the Cotton Bowl and USC wins the Rose Bowl. Oklahoma will win the Sugar Bowl.

As far as the college football playoffs go, Alabama will beat Washington, Clemson will win over Ohio State and Alabama wins it all!
