Clarence Eiben Dec. 2, 1928 – Oct. 25, 2018

      Clarence Eiben age 89, died Thursday Oct. 25, 2018 at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.

      Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, Oct. 30, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church, Monticello with interment in the Hopkinton Cemetery.  Friends may call from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.

      Surviving is his wife Laura, a daughter, Janice Wright, Hopkinton, three sons, Wayne (Shirley), Ervin (Julie), both of Monticello, Ernest (Pam), Hopkinton, 11 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren and his sister, Marion (James) Blunt, Scotch Grove.   He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Betty Redmond and five brothers, John, Paul, Harold, Art and Irvin Eiben.

      Clarence C. Eiben was born Dec. 2, 1928 at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa.   He was the son of Henry and Ella Warner, Eiben. Clarence received his education in the rural schools near his home.   He started farming with his father in the Onslow/Scotch Grove area of Jones County.   Clarence married Laura Wall on May 16, 1953 at the Community Presbyterian Church, Cascade. They farmed in the Onslow/ Center Junction area until 1968 when they bought a farm near Hopkinton in South Fork Township of Delaware County.   He retired from active farming in 1990.

      Clarence belonged to the Hopkinton Presbyterian Church and later First Presbyterian Church in Monticello.   He and Laura enjoyed going to Senior Dining and to various places to play Bingo.  He loved all things John Deere and spending time with his grandchildren.
