Charles “Chuck” Pierce March 9, 1940-March 22, 2018

     Charles “Chuck” Pierce, 78, of Cascade Iowa, passed away, Thursday, March 22, 2018 at his home in Cascade, Iowa.

     Friends and relatives of Chuck called from 2 to 7 p.m., Sunday, March 25, 2018 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, where a wake service was held at 1:30 p.m. and a KC Rosary was held at 7 p.m. 

     Services for Chuck were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 26, 2018 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa with Rev. Douglas Loecke presiding. Lectors were Tory Topping, Tammy Gillmore and Dawn Koppes Eucharistic Ministers were Ronda Kurt and Jean Conrad. Placing of the pall was Donnie Topping and Denny Topping. Giftbearers were Dawn Koppes, Tammy Gillmore and Emily Haverland. Musician was Lori Gravel. Burial was held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa.

     Honorary pallbearers for Chuck were Morgan Knapp, Buddy Duffy, Donnie Supple, Nick Koppes, Wayne Kearney and Dick Duffy.

     Casket bearers for Chuck were Ryan Topping, Marty Topping, Tory Topping, Adam Topping, Matt Topping, Nathan Topping, D.J. Topping and Shawn Soppe.

     He was born March 9, 1940 in Temple Hill, Iowa, son of Charles and Ruth (Ball) Pierce. He received his education in the Temple Hill area schools. On June 20, 1970 he was united in marriage to Geraldine Lewis in Cascade, Iowa. She preceded him in death on May 3, 2013.

     Chuck farmed his entire life in the Temple Hill area. He enjoyed going to tractor pulls and visiting with family and friends. He truly enjoyed his time spent with the grandchildren and the traditional family get togethers, he took extra efforts to make sure everyone was at the Christmas eve get together.

     He was a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade and the Cascade Knights of Columbus-Council #930.

     He is survived by one brother, Chancy (Roberta) Pierce of Montana; one sister, Mary (Herb) Heim of Dyersville, Iowa; two step sons, Donnie (Rosie) Topping of Onslow, Iowa and Denny (Rose) Topping of Dubuque, Iowa; one daughter-in-law, Joanie Topping of Cascade, IAIowa 11 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Kenny Lewis and Terry (Linda) Lewis both of Monticello, Iowa, one sister-in-law, Donna (Steve) Koob of Monticello, Iowa.

     He is preceded in death by his parents; one stepson, Thomas Topping; four brothers in law, Ron Egger, Carl Gudenkauf, Carl Merfeld and Maynard Lewis; and three sisters-in-law, Mary Gudenkauf, Peggy Merfeld and JoAnn Egger.
