Camp Courageous announces board of directors
The Camp Courageous Board of Directors announced the election of the following officers and members for the 2018-19 term. The president of the board of directors is Jim Foels. He farms near Brooklyn, Iowa, and has been involved with Camp Courageous for 30 years as an advocate, an extremely active volunteer, and board member. Foels and his wife, Elsie, have been exceptional volunteers in a variety of organizations and first met Camp Courageous through the service organization Ruritan.

Those re-elected to a three-year term include: Randy Faulkner; Jill McDermott, camper parent and school counselor at Maquoketa Valley, Monticello; Ralph Palmer, retired owner The Ar-Jay Center, Cedar Rapids; Diane Pitlik, former non-profit director and special needs advocate, Cedar Rapids; Amanda Schlemme; Kevin Van Houten, volunteer, Cedar Rapids; Mag Welter, retired special educator, Monticello; Winnie Williams, retired from Fawn Creek Homes, Monticello; Jim Zimmerman, retired principal from Sacred Heart School, Monticello
Other board members include: Margo Ahrendsen, camper parent, advocate, farmer, Oxford Junction; Greg Greco, financial planner, Cedar Falls; Marlin Hulse, retired farmer, Tipton; Mary Johnson, retired from Rockwell Collins, Marion; Kay Pitlik, retired special educator, advocate, Cedar Rapids; Trish Recker, fundraising consultant at Great American Opportunities, Cedar Rapids; Amy Rouse, Washington High School, Cedar Rapids; Jan Short, retired teacher, Wintrop; Chris Wiese, VP in sales at LimoLink, Cedar Rapids
Retiring from the Camp Courageous Board of Directors: Larry Greco, Solon; and Steve Carter, Fairfax. The board extended their appreciation for Greco and Carter’s years of service. Both plan to continue to stay active with Camp Courageous.
