Betty Redmond June 25, 1930-Dec. 25, 2016

     Betty Redmond age 86, died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016 at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.

     Funeral Services will be held 11 Thursday morning, Dec. 29, 2016 at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where friends may call after 9 a.m. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Fr.      Surviving are four daughters: Carolyn Dirks, Diane Adams and Jennifer (David) Klaren all of Monticello, Linda (Bob) Kirkwood, Hopkinton; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother Clarence (Laura) Eiben, Monticello; her sister, Marion (Jim) Blunt, Scotch Grove; and several brothers and sisters–in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George in 2002 and five brothers: John, Paul, Harold, Art and Irvin Eiben. 

     Betty Marie Eiben was born June 25, 1930 in Bowens Prairie, Richland Township, Jones County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Henry and Ella Warner, Eiben. Betty attended school in Hopkinton and North Boulder near Prairieburg. She worked at the Reliance Shirt Factory in Anamosa. She also detasseled corn and worked at Longs Caning Factory. Betty Eiben and George Redmond were married on July 2, 1951 at St. Peters Catholic Church, Temple Hill. The couple lived in Monticello and Betty worked at Monty Produce. She also did babysitting for a number of years.

     Betty loved to garden and can the produce she grew. She always loved to be around little children.
