Area students named DAR Good Citizens

     Katelyn Issac of Monticello High School, Alaina Elliott of Anamosa High School and Andrew Blakely of Springville High School have been chosen as Good Citizens by the Marion-Linn Daughters of American Revolution Chapter. These students and their parents along with area representatives were honored at a Good Citizen Tea in Cedar Rapids on Feb. 19.

     Katelyn Issac of Monticello is the daughter of Steven and Stephanie Issac. She has been a class officer both junior and senior years and is on student council. She participates in speech and drama and is a member of the Business Professionals of America and the 2016 National Council of Youth Leadership. Katelyn enjoys her Spanish class and has volunteered to help students in the English Language Learners program. She plans to attend the University of Iowa with a major in marketing and a minor in Spanish.

     Alaina Elliott of Anamosa is the daughter of Trishelaina Ewing and Robert Elliott. She serves as Senior class president and also National Honor Society president. She is a member of Interact, concert and show choir and participates in drama and speech. She was named Homecoming Queen and has the lead in the spring play “The Wizard of Oz.” She maintains an A average grade. Alaina plans to attend Iowa State and major in communications.
