Activities fill calendar for Monticello FFA Chapter

FFA WEEK

     The Monticello FFA has participated in a variety of different activities throughout the 2016 calendar year.

     Cortney Price won second Place at State for her proficiency in Landscape Management.

     Members who received Iowa Degrees were Kaitlyn Jacobs, Taylor Cruise, Clayton Lubben, Gavin Timm, Zach Timm, and Megan Henrich.

     Parker Kray, Stephanie Manternach, Calli McQuillen, and Logan McQuillen received recognition for earning their American FFA Degrees.

     The Farm Business Management team of Kaitlyn Jacobs, Cortney Price, Taylor Cruise, and Kirklen Kiburz received a Silver rating.

     The Biotechnology team consisting of Jordan Lorenzen, Jacob Lorenzen, Zach Timm, and Tyler Kuper placed second as a team. Jordan Lorenzen placed first overall and Zach Timm placed eighth overall as individuals. Jacob Lorenzen, Cassidy Russell, and Tyler Kuper received ninth place at the State Ag Mechanics CDE. Jacob Lorenzen finished ninth place overall individually.

     The Ag Sales team consisting of Jesse Iben, Quinton Fellinger, Clayton Lubben and Lane Stahlberg received a Silver rating.

     At District Livestock Judging, the team consisting of Marissa Recker, Zach Timm, Caleb Hogan, Gavin Timm, and Austin Timm was the champion.

     Participating in WLC (Washington Leadership Conference) this year were Breanna Adams and Grace Gadient. In this five-day event, participants learn how to lead for a purpose, value others, take action, and to serve others.

     Along with participation in many Career Development Events and Leadership Activities, the chapter also hosted an Iowa Swine Jackpot Series event in June, in which over 100 youth from throughout Iowa and the region exhibited over 250 head of swine in four different shows over two days at the Great Jones County Fairgrounds.
