Jones County Central

     The Jones County Central 4-H Club held its regular monthly meeting on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the Jones County Youth Development Community Center.

     The meeting was called to order at 1:44 p.m. by Grace Lubben. Gracie Henderson led the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary’s Report was not given. Treasurer’s Report was given and it was moved by Natalie Henderson to approve the report. It was seconded by Gracie Henderson and passed by majority vote. Bills were presented and Lauren Oltmanns motioned to pay the bills. Ava Capron seconded it and was passed by majority. Roll call was – “What is Your Favorite Tongue Twister?” It was answered by 15 members. There were three leaders and 10 guests present.

     Old Business: Grant Lubben and Lauren Oltmanns reported on the Junior basketball game, which they said was fun and they all had a great time.

     New Business: Edgewood Locker fundraiser pickup will be April 13 with pickup locations in Monticello and Anamosa. The Legislative trip has been rescheduled for March 27 and cost is $50. Please register with the Extension Office by March 15. The Intermediate trip is scheduled for April 12-13; the Night at the Zoo Trip. See the flyer or the 4-H Intermediate trip for more details. Registration is due by March 22 with a fee of $100. If you have any questions, please contact the Extension Office. Swine Weigh-in - will be held Saturday, March 30, 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Jones County Fairgrounds. A separate email will be sent to members enrolled in swine, so be on the lookout for it. This is the derby swine weigh in deadline with April 27 being the market hog deadline. Regarding the spring fundraiser (Edgewood Locker meat): Thank you to all members and parents for selling! We will let everyone know how we did at the next meeting. YQCA – The 4-H program is going to a new Quality Assurance Program which began in January 2019. There will be no face-to-face meeting this year; everything will be done online. The YQCA is only good for one year and will cost $12 to take. Please direct any questions to the Extension Office. Make Your Own Show Tote Workshop is scheduled for March 10 at the Extension Office, with $10 registration fee for the supplies. This will run from 2 to 3:30 p.m. May 15 is just around the corner, so make sure you have met all of your deadlines. The meeting was adjourned at 2:02 p.m. with the 4-H Pledge being led by Grant Lubben.
