Jones County Central

     The Jones County Central 4-H Club held its regular monthly meeting on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017 at the Citizens State Bank Youth Development Center in Monticello.

     The meeting was called to order at 6:46 p.m. by acting president Autumn Kirby. Grace Lubben led the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary’s Report was not given. Treasurer’s Report was given and it was moved by Elizabeth Riniker to approve the report. It was seconded by Ali Braden and passed by majority vote. Roll call was – “Name a country in the world that starts with the first letter of your name.” It was answered by 18 members. There were five leaders and seven guests present.

     Old Business: The following members had projects at the state fair: Grace Lubben took a quilt, Gracie Henderson took placemats, Sierra Lief took cattle, Maisie Paulson took a dress, Grant Lubben took his bench, Ericka Braden took a drawing, Elizabeth Riniker took goats, and Trista DeShaw showed swine in the open show. The Secretary’s book, Treasurer’s book, Historian’s book, and Reporter’s book were handed into the Extension office for evaluation. Record books need to be turned in as soon as possible.

     New Business: Election of officers was held and our new officers include: President Wesley Henderson, Vice-President Grace Lubben, Secretary Ali Braden, Treasurer Zabrina Kirby, Reporter Trista DeShaw, Co-Historians Gracie Henderson, Hailey Henderson and Natalie Henderson; Co-Photographers Gracie Henderson, Sierra Lief and Maisie Paulson; Activities Directors Natalie Henderson and Grant Lubben. The club budget was discussed. It was moved by Kirklen Kiburz and seconded by Ali Braden to approve the club budget. It passed by majority. Officer training has not been scheduled yet, but be looking for it on 4-H Online. National 4-H week is Oct. 1-7. Celebrate by wearing your 4-H shirt. 4-H Open house is Oct. 5 at the Youth Development Center. Volleyball has been scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 11, at Monticello Middle School starting at 9 a.m. with the juniors, and the senior games will follow. Awards Day is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 12. It was discussed to move the February meeting from 6:30 p.m. to 1 p.m., because of the Super Bowl game. It passed by majority vote. The club welcomed new member Tabitha Etten.

     The meeting was adjourned at 7:44 p.m. with the 4-H Pledge being led by Kaden Kiburz.
